Annie Chochla

she/her/hers

Hey, I'm Annie! I'm law student at UVic Faculty of Law and an 8-year treeplanter. I've personally planted just under a million trees across Western Canada, from eastern Manitoba to northwestern BC. Taking this experience to law school, my focus now is on gaining skills to help individuals & communities advocate for themselves and their rights.

About

Annie Chochla

I planted for 4 years in central Canada, spending the summers in Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta. In 5th season I switched to a BC company and have been with them ever since. In my 6th I started acting as one of the "planter representatives" for my camp, and in my 7th I started foremanning.

Members of the Cache project team are grateful to live, work, and be in relationship with people from across many traditional and unceded territories, covering all parts of the land known as British Columbia, Canada. We thoughtfully offer this acknowledgement recognizing that reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples' is a commitment we all share as Canadians. We are grateful to live on this land and are committed to reconciliation, decolonization, and building relationships in our communities and workplaces. Land acknowledgements are one small step towards reconciling the relationships between settlers and Indigenous Peoples, in Canada. Colonialism is a current and ongoing process. Being mindful of our participation is another step on the path of healing.
