Job Description
Role Overview
As a Type 3 Wildfire Firefighter, you’ll be on the frontlines of wildfire suppression. From our Squamish and Princeton bases, our crews respond to wildfires across BC throughout the season. Deployments can last up to 16 consecutive days, often in remote, rugged environments.
Accommodations will be provided free of charge in fire camps or motels, and food or per diems will be supplied depending on deployment conditions. Most equipment will be provided, but firefighters must supply their own boots, hard hats, camping gear, and gloves.
Core Responsibilities
- Engage in wildfire suppression: line construction, mop-up, and patrol
- Operate safely in rugged, high-pressure environments
- Maintain, carry, and operate wildfire gear and tools
- Uphold crew cohesion and field safety culture
- Follow operational procedures and incident command protocols
Pay Range
Qualified firefighters (with a minimum of 5 days of active, BCWS-approved fireline experience) will earn between $23.85–$33.44/hour (approximately $333.90–$468.16/day) depending on experience and qualifications.
Certifications & Experience:
Required Qualifications
- Valid S-100 and S-185 certifications (up to date by deployment)
- Physical Fitness Test, moderate level (3.2km walk in under 30 minutes with a 25lb backpack)*
- Willingness to deploy for extended assignments in remote areas
- Must be able to travel to one of our bases (Squamish or Princeton) at time of deployment
*Physical fitness testing will be conducted by A+G prior to deployment
Assets (Preferred but Not Required)
- Power Saw Operator
- Danger Tree Assessor - Wildfire Module
- Occupational First Aid (basic, intermediate, or advanced)
